Project Directory: A Centralized Prototype Hub for Cross-Functional Review

Context & Problem
As the number of design explorations and prototypes grew across the team, managers and cross-functional partners struggled to access and review work. Prototypes lived in disconnected places—Figma files, local builds, or outdated links—which made demos, usability testing, and design reviews unreliable and hard to scale. We needed a single, designer-led solution that could reliably host interactive prototypes, support both coded and design-driven work, and make it easy for stakeholders to explore and compare ideas.
My Role
I identified the gap, proposed the solution, and led the end-to-end design and implementation. This included defining the structure, building the prototype infrastructure, and partnering with designers and engineers to onboard and validate use cases.
Constraints & Key Decisions

Prototypes needed to be easily shareable, up-to-date, and interactive, including support for 3D vehicle models and complex behaviors. Rather than relying solely on static design files or ad hoc builds, I chose to create a centralized, code-based directory that designers could own and maintain. I built the system using Replit and Cursor to lower the barrier for designers to contribute working prototypes without needing full production environments.

Why These Decisions?

Relying on Figma alone limited interaction fidelity, while engineer-owned prototypes were difficult to maintain and frequently broke. A designer-led codebase created a middle ground—high-fidelity, reliable prototypes that stayed current and could be used consistently for demos, reviews, and usability testing.

Solutions & Impacts

The launch of the tool led to an 80% reduction in duplicate issues, reducing noise and accelerating operational decision-making.

I built a centralized “Project Directory” that hosted interactive prototypes from across the team. Stakeholders could explore 3D vehicle models, test interactions, toggle visual states like color, and review multiple internal tools in one place. The directory also enabled designers to compare patterns and interactions across projects, improving consistency and collaboration.
